Top Spyware in the Future It may take a long time for us to find out why some smart guys would produce virus. For fun, for showmanship, for demonstration of jobless talent are some of the reasons. The most famous telephone scam is in Montreal. The well-known Nigeria email scam operation is in Spain. The most active credit card thieves are in Russia. So where will be the most likely place for top spyware? We guess that will be China. First, there are many well-trained programmers. Second, big corporations and marketing services need information and would outsource this type of dirty work to somewhere suitable. Last, there is no legal operation to protect the mass online population that can be used as either targets or guinea pigs. Although virus problem remains active, yet there are lots of effective virus-scanning products for us to protect our computers. Of course, the quiet period does not mean that it is over. It means that those who are still active today are just copycats, not genius anymore. Perhaps, we can say that our anti-virus teams have fully understood the technique of virus. When any new version of virus appears, it may take a few days if not less to have update to work against. So fast that leads to some of us wonder if both are the work of the same group of people. Certainly, no corporation would risk the reputation with such kind of evil deeds. Different culture will develop different mind-set. When kinsman produces a spyware, it may not be hard to find out the solution because they all have similar ideas and technical preference. However, if some guys with different culture produce it, it may not be easy to trace. We base on the recent Chinese spyware that until today; it can be cleared but not totally destroyed by various anti-spyware. There might be earlier example, but we cannot remember when and which. It is a rare case when bad things cannot be kept under complete control for months. In China, it is a different scenario. The guy may not be doing for fun. Instead he/she might be hired. Adware and spyware are hard to define. It may not be related to online crime, just an annoying under-covered tool to waste our computer resources. The worst thing we would not like to see is that such happening might turn the online population in China to stay away from the Internet. In fact, until now, we do not think that people in China would use the Internet for business, studies etc. as those in developed countries. Yes, they will keep the online services, the PC etc. because one cannot be modernized without such things. But most of them will not face the problem and find solution, so the facilities would remain without activities. |
