Review of online search Nov 2005 It has been known for years that Sex is the top search word and most studies have excluded. The fact is nothing sells better than Sex. Yes, we may distaste the naked way, but we cannot avoid the sensation of sex. Although 3G has become a prospering mobile technology, yet it has to rely on sex to survive. Mobile porno is on the way. In May 2003, Playboy video has been taken as promotional service for mobile service,' A spokesman from UK mobile operator 3, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa, told Reuters the company's third-generation phone services will now include pictures and video clips from Playboy...'. Refer STUDY FINDS TV SEX CONTENT ON THE RISE. Let's see the search words statistic of September 2005.
(There is no official statistics and different sources would be hard to compare. So we take the data from a single source.) It is great to see 'sex' is not the number one. However, we may wonder why anyone would still search for Google, Yahoo and ebay. We should know their domains for years. Will any one go to Google.com and search for Google? One explanation is the main page of Google, Yahoo and ebay failed to let visitors to know about their various sections. Otherwise, it may be great to have a survey to learn about such behavior. With 33 millions search for Google, 17 millions for Yahoo and 13 millions for ebay, it seems that the problem does exist. Then we have the famous sex with over 8 millions search. Among those with over 500,000 search count, 11 out of 18 has related to sex. Sorry, I have to take girl, paris hilton, pamela anderson and madonna as sex too. We may feel better to know that dictionary got 3 millions search, lyric with 2 millions and dog with 1.6 millions. If we assume that those searching for Google, Yahoo and ebay are for information, then we should be glad to know about 70% of online search is for information. Excluding the three, then we have 62% searching for sex-related topics and 38% for others. Only one related to travel reached this top list. 'expedia' is certainly related to expedia.com. To summarize what we have found from this review, we can see that the most attractive online topics are information, sex and travel. |
